About Charli
Charli Clement (they/them) is an award-winning writer, speaker & creator discussing their experiences of disability, neurodivergence & queerness, and how these topics intertwine. They deliver training and talks with clients including Activision Blizzard, Young Minds, VISA, and Scope, and recently guest curated as a Young Changemaker at Cheltenham Science Festival. They have bylines in outlets including the Metro, Independent, Digital Spy, and The i on topics including media representation, human rights, legislative reform, and identity.
After receiving their autism diagnosis during a traumatic admission to a psychiatric unit as a teenager, Charli is often found discussing the psychiatric system and has spent the past four years working in the NHS & third sector organisations on improving care and human rights for autistic people. Last year, they were named on the MHP 30 To Watch: Politics list as a Health Champion.
Their first book, All Tangled Up in Autism & Chronic Illness, a guide to life as an autistic and chronically ill person, was published in December 2023.
